Williamston, North Carolina is a small farming town located on the Roanoke River. Williamston was apart of the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s and should be in the history books. The black youth was arrested and thrown in a hot jail back then. The protest was organized by community member Princess Foster.
A multi-cultural group gathered download Williamston, for a peaceful protest. The group featured black community members, Williamston Police, A Clergy, and the county sheriff. No violence, riots, or looting occurred during the protest.
WHY ARE PEOPLE PROTESTING
Since the end of slavery on December 7, 1865, black people have been killed and beaten by racist people with badges. People are sick of seeing black people murdered on camera.
JUNETEENTH
Juneteenth is coming up on June 19. It commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger read federal orders in Galveston, Texas, that all previously enslaved people in Texas were free. Read more Wikipedia
